Prize Information
HCTF's photo contest offers participants the opportunity to showcase their photography skills and win exciting prizes. The contest features three categories: Conservation Lands, Wildlife or Freshwater Fish, and Landscape, with two prizes awarded in each category.
Karen Wipond Award – Conservation Lands:
1st Prize: $1,000 CAD Visa Gift Card
2nd Prize: $250 CAD Visa Gift Card
Wildlife or Freshwater Fish:
1st Prize: $500 CAD Visa Gift Card
2nd Prize: $250 CAD Visa Gift Card
Landscape:
1st Prize: $500 CAD Visa Gift Card
2nd Prize: $250 CAD Visa Gift Card
Eligibility Criteria
To ensure fair participation, it's essential to understand the contest's eligibility criteria:
1. The contest is open to:
- Canadian citizens
- Permanent residents of Canada
- Protected persons designated by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (excluding residents of Quebec)
2. Entrants must have captured a photo of British Columbia's wildlife, freshwater fish, and/or habitats, which may include people engaged in activities that connect them to nature, within the province of British Columbia.
3. All entrants must be at least 19 years of age or have the permission of their legal guardian.
4. Affiliates of HCTF and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter. Affiliates may include, but are not limited to, HCTF employees, members of HCTF's Board of Directors, or grantees currently receiving funding from HCTF.
Guidelines
To ensure your entry is considered, it's crucial to adhere to the contest's guidelines:
1. Photographs can be in color or black and white and should be taken with a high-resolution camera.
2. Images should not exceed 50 megabytes in size and must not contain watermarks or other markings identifying the photographer.
3. Entries will be declared invalid if they are late, illegible, irregular, forged, garbled, or reproduced.
4. Entries will be declared invalid if they negatively depict another person, country, ethnicity, race, religion, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
5. HCTF reserves the right to exclude any photo from its gallery page if it does not comply with the rules and regulations or for any reason determined by HCTF in its sole discretion, without notice.
6. The content of entered photographs must be suitable for all viewing audiences. HCTF will disqualify any entrant submitting a photograph containing obscene or indecent content or content that is vulgar, offensive, or inappropriate for public viewing, or that portrays HCTF in a negative light.
