Eradicating all forms of Modern Slavery in the Philippines

Modern slavery is a grave violation of human rights that affects millions of individuals worldwide. In line with its commitment to combat this heinous crime, the British Embassy Manila has issued a call for proposals aimed at eradicating all forms of modern slavery in the Philippines. This blog post provides detailed information on this critical opportunity for organizations dedicated to this noble cause.

Objectives:

The UK government has set a formidable goal - the eradication of all forms of modern slavery by 2030, as unanimously adopted at the UN Sustainable Development Summit in 2015. The British Embassy Manila seeks proposals that align with this mission and support the following objectives:

1. Prevention, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration: Focus on the comprehensive support of trafficked migrant workers and/or victims of Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and their families. Survivor engagement should be at the heart of this objective.

2. Increased Awareness and Access to Justice: Empower individuals affected by human trafficking and OSAEC by raising awareness and facilitating access to legal support and justice.

Funding Information:

Prospective bidders are strongly advised to tailor their proposals within the budget limit of £27,500. This financial support is intended to enable organizations to make a significant impact in the fight against modern slavery.

Eligibility Criteria:

Any organization is eligible to apply for funding to support this critical cause. However, individual project bids are not accepted. Organizations interested in submitting proposals covering multiple objectives are encouraged to demonstrate how their projects will be influenced by the lived experiences and input of survivors of modern slavery.

Please note that payments will be made in arrears, and pre-payments are not possible. Successful bidders will be responsible for initial project expenses and will be reimbursed by the Embassy. To facilitate this, organizations must have an active bank account in the name of the organization capable of receiving electronic reimbursements.

Organizations must also demonstrate their capacity to manage the project funds satisfactorily, with the possibility of audit reports being requested by the Embassy. Furthermore, the Embassy welcomes partnership frameworks that promote wider project engagement and strengthen proposals.

Ineligibility Criteria:

The British Embassy Manila, regrettably, cannot fund the following:

- Academic courses

- Charitable activities

- Commercial activities

- Infrastructure or construction projects

Evaluation of Project Bids:

To be competitive in this call for proposals, your project's aim should be clear, concise, feasible, and sustainable. Outcomes should be measurable, and the target group should be well-defined and actively involved in project implementation.

The assessment criteria will encompass various aspects, including:

1. Financial and Operational Capacity: Demonstrating the ability to manage project funds effectively.

2. Relevance: How well the proposal aligns with the objectives and mission of eradicating modern slavery.

3. Methodology: The approach and strategies to achieve the desired outcomes.

4. Sustainability: The project's ability to have a lasting impact beyond its duration.

5. Value for Money: Ensuring that the funds are efficiently utilized.

6. Impact: The expected positive outcomes and their significance in the fight against modern slavery.

The British Embassy Manila's call for proposals presents a significant opportunity for organizations committed to eradicating modern slavery in the Philippines. By aligning your proposal with the outlined objectives and adhering to the eligibility criteria, your organization can play a pivotal role in the global effort to combat this grave violation of human rights. Together, we can work towards a world where no one is subjected to the horrors of modern slavery.
