Global Peace Photo Award

Entries are now open for the Global Peace Photo Award to recognize and promote photographers from all over the world whose pictures capture human efforts towards a peaceful world and the quest for beauty and goodness in the lives.

The Global Peace Photo Award aims to discover the best picture of the better side of humans and the positive aspects of changes in this world.

The Global Peace Photo Award for the best photo of peace is not an award for escapism, wildflower meadows and sunsets or an award for the sweetest smile, nor does it criticize the informative reportage photography which by nature depicts the misery of the world.

The Global Peace Photo Award is awarded by Edition Lammerhuber in partnership with Photographische Gesellschaft, (PHG), UNESCO, Austrian Parliament, Austrian Parliamentary Reporting Association, International Press Institute (IPI), World Press Photo Foundation, POY LATAM and LensCulture.

Prizes

  • The top five listed photographers will be awarded the Alfred Fried Peace Medal. The Peace Image of the Year will receive €10,000.

  • The winning picture will be on display for one year at the Austrian Parliament and will be included in the permanent art collection of the Austrian Parliament.

Award Ceremony

  • All winners will be invited to Vienna to the award ceremony at the Austrian Parliament on 14 November 2022 with travel expenses and accommodation paid.

  • It will be one of the first events held at the renovated Austrian Parliament after reopening on 26 October 2022.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Your story must not be older than three years at the time when the call for entry opens.

  • In case of long term projects, at least 2/3 of your work must not be older than three years at the time when the call for entry opens.

  • Since the entry-system checks the age of every image individually, you may have to change the date of some submitted images. This is allowed as long as you state the correct date in the image description.

  • The Global Peace Photo Award is open to all photographers from anywhere in the world.
